Last week during class we went in depth about the different aspects of editing. Editing is part of the post production of a film. Editing techniques can create an expansion of time in films. So we had to learn about different techniques and begin to plan on which we would use for our movie. We had to take into consideration that our transitions need to be smooth and make sense with the plot. Since our intro takes place in a dream sequence we wanted to use fade in/out to make it seem psychedelic and dreamy. There is also a scene where Diana is beckoning Otis to come over so we might use slow motion to make her movements seem more sensual and dream like. Cut was also a good transition to use because since it’s a dream it needs to be curt and go from moment to moment. We also used eyeline match to demonstrate Otis (Andy) following Diana or going towards her or her telling him to come over. Finally, a smash cut will be used to demonstrate Otis waking up from his dream going into reality. He would be waking up disturbed.
We used premier pro to be able to edit and mash up the scenes together. We wanted to focus on transitions that would correspond with a conversation.
